Use of Bedbug Sprays
If you get a bedbug infestation at home, the first step is to identify the specific site of infestation. How do you identify the site of infestation?
In identifying the infestation site, you must take note of the time and place that you get bitten by the bedbugs. Does this happen when you slept on your bed? Or did it happen when you slept in the guest room? You can now identify the specific area in your house that is infested. Next step is to look for the insects. Check the specific furniture that you slept on. If it is the mattress, look for cracks and holes. After that, you must check anything that is close to the mattress. Look for cracks and holes where bedbugs usually live.
One type of bedbugs that you will find is the mature adult form. These adult bedbugs are reddish-brown in color and their bodies are approximately 4 to 5 mm long. Adults have oval, flat bodies that look banded. Adults are also wingless.
You will also find nymphs. These are translucent and have lighter colors than the adults. Now that you have seen where the insects live, you can call a professional exterminator to get rid of them or you can buy a bedbug spray.
There are pesticides designed to kill bedbugs. These pesticides can be bought in dust form or in sprays. There are also pesticides that are eco-friendly and less toxic.
When choosing a bedbug spray you must make sure that it can be used on the materials that are infested. For example some bedbug sprays can only be used for the mattress, while others are for wood. There are some bedbug sprays that you can use in just about anything.
In starting the treatment, scrub then vacuum all the surfaces of the infested area. Dispose of the vacuum bag inside a plastic bag to make sure that no bedbug will be transferred anywhere else.
Once you have done these, apply the bedbug spray on the infested area. Make sure that you have read and understood the instructions for application and if re-treatment in required. Examples of the most common bedbug sprays are Pyrethrins, Tempo, Allethrin, and Malathion.
